Father's Day

I haven't written on Kolby's blog for quite awhile. I just love it when John writes on her blog. He always does such a great job. I have been waiting for all of the pictures from the Talent Show to put together and load up onto Kolby's blog, and I just haven't had the time to sit down and put together a slide show yet. It was such a wonderful evening . We cannot express enough appreciation to all the students from Silverado High School who spent hours and hours putting this exciting event together in honor of Kolby. All of the talent was wonderful.....we did not want it to end. It was such a fun night, and so many people were there to support and show Kolby their love and friendship. Thank you all who attended and participated! We are so lucky, fortunate and blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives. Even though Kolby is ending her treatment, she still needs her friends and family and all the support they so lovingly give her. We forget sometimes that Kolby is going through treatment when we look at her and see how good she looks. Kolby is just such a trooper and she never complains when she is suffering from bone pain, fatigue, and or side effects from the chemo. She just quietly endures. She is doing so good. I am just so proud of my daughter. She is such an example to me. Just to let you know how strong and amazing Kolby is, I will share a little story about Kolby. Several months ago she learned how addictive morphine was. Morphine was a part of Kolby's daily medication to help control the pain caused by the type of cancer she has and the side effects of the bone pain. When she learned how hard it was going to be to get off the morphine she little by little stopped taking it. It has been several months since she has taken any morphine. She just takes over the counter medicine to help control the pain, and she takes nightly baths. There are so many little things about Kolby that no one knows about. She is a very quiet and proud young lady. If she confides in anyone, they are very lucky. She rarely cries in front of people, and she walks around with her head held up high and never complains. I cannot express enough how thankful I am for such a strong daughter. I know this has been a difficult road for her to travel on. And it has been a difficult year. But she has endured this with dignity. She has trusted in her Heavenly Father and her faith has been strengthened. I am honored to be her mother. I hope and pray that Kolby will be around for many more years, I need her in my life. She not only is my daughter, but she is my friend and a true example of one who is going through hard times, but still remains positive and only sees the beautiful things in life. I love you Kolby!
