Better Days....Thank Goodness!

Sunday was a better day for Kolby. She still didn't feel well enough to get all ready and go to church, but she wasn't as teary and uncomfortable. Her stomach problems eased up and overall she had a much much better day. She was pretty quiet all day. Overly quiet. Honestly, I think Kolby keeps in a lot of emotions, and then in the evening she tends to crash. The one thing I notice the most is how much her bones hurt. She hasn't wanted to take as much morphine lately because of her tummy problems. Her bones even hurt her when she takes morphine, but without it it is even more painful.

Today, Monday, she woke up in a lot of pain. She finally let me get her her pain meds. Stomach issues seems to be gone, or at least she isn't complaining as much. She is also taking her meds much better these days. Which is such a relief to us because there for a while it was a struggle to get her to take them. It would literally take her over an hour to get them down, and now she gets them down within a few minutes. We really cannot complain, Kolby's whole life has been turned upside down, so a few complaints really aren't all that bad. (And I really have to remember that!) Today has been a good day, and it is the last day of her meds. She gets the next two weeks off her meds and chemo, so the rest of the summer should be nice. I know she is really looking forward to that. School starts pretty soon, and she wants to do a little school shopping. Grandpa Thornton loves to help out in that area....and we are so thankful for him!

Father's Day

Today was a great day for our family. Kolby went to church. It was a challenge , but it was really important for Kolby to go to church today with her dad. She got up, got ready and she looked beautiful. I really wish I would have taken pictures of the girls with their dad, but we were in such a hurry to get off to church that I forgot. Next time I will for sure. She was pretty emotional at church. It was a lot for her to get ready and go to church for the first time in a while. She wanted to arrive a few minutes late, and leave a few minutes early. It is really hard for Kolby to see people, only because of all the different emotions she is feeling right now. She gets very emotional when people hug her and express their love and support. She loves it, but right now, she cries every time she has a new visitor or sees people. So, please do not get offended if Kolby is quiet when you see her or visit with her. It's just how she is right now, and that's ok . Everyone deals wit...

A Very Generous Gift!

Brinley Truman, an eight year old girl in our ward and a dear friend of our family over heard her parents discussing Kolby and their desire to make a donation to "Keeping Kolby." Brinley asked her parents, Tom and Taralee, what they were talking about and Taralee explained to Brinley that they were going to donate money to the Cramptons because they wanted to show them that they love them and also because all the medicines and procedures that Kolby has to have cost a lot of money. Brinley told her parents that she wanted to give her money too. She went into their kitchen, climbed on the counter and got her money off the top of the fridge. When she got down she handed her mom 5 one dollar bills, 4 nickles, and 7 pennies. Her mom told her that she didn't have to give her money and that they would donate money as a family and Brinley said, "No, I want to use this!" Taralee told her that she should keep her money since she doesn't get money very often and they d...

Met A New Friend!

Kolby went to her weekly doctor's appointment today and as soon as we got there Dr. Kline came right out in the waiting room and told Kolby that there was a 15 year old girl who was just diagnosed with cancer and she was having a really really hard time. He asked Kolby if she would go back and talk to her. Kolby met McKenzie. She is such a darling girl. McKenzie was just diagnosed with brain cancer two weeks ago. She was very quiet and we could tell that she was scared and uncomfortable. She is just beginning to lose her hair and Kolby chatted with her about her experience. Kolby told her about the Wig Cottage and a few web sites with hat hair. McKenzie seemed a little uplifted. Kolby also told her all about her experiences the first few cycles and how much better it does get. Kolby also learned that McKenzie has to have chemo and radiation everyday for 30 days and it really made Kolby appreciate her 21 day cycle. The two were able to get strength from one another. I was really pro...
