Quiet Sunday

Today was a nice quiet day for Kolby. She actually slept most of the day. She woke up not feeling as well as she had the previous days. She felt nausea, throat hurt a little, and a head ache. She just wanted to be left alone and sleep. She didn't speak that much either. She wanted John to BBQ and for me to make potato salad for dinner. She also wanted to sit in the warm pool again. We ate dinner in the backyard, it was so nice and there was a nice breeze. Kolby was quiet during dinner. I could tell she didn't feel that well. Becca and her mother came by and brought her the cutest T-shirt from BYU. Kolby wasn't able to attend EFY (Especially for Youth) up at BYU this summer. She says she will next year though. They also stayed and visited for a while. It was so nice. Kylie and Jeff came over to for dinner too. We all sat in the pool for a while afterwards. Kolby loved it. She didn't want to get out. These days Kolby is the boss. Whatever she wants to do, we just go along for the ride. She doesn't want to do that much, so when she wants to do something, we are all supportive.
Then, just when we thought she was going for a fourth day of not throwing up, she did. She said she actually felt better after she did. Kristi was so sweet, she washed Kolby's hair in the sink and worked out a knot of hair that was matted in the back of her head. It took a long time to get it out. But she was patient and worked on it for a long time. Kolby doesn't like talking about her hair loss. It is very emotional for Kolby. She likes joking about it, but not when she sees it is happening. Sometimes I wish Kolby would talk a little more about what is going on in her life and how she feels. I have asked her several times to write in her blog but she said she just wants me to do if for now. I try to write as much as I can about her days and how she feels by what she says. So, for now, you'll keep hearing from the momma. I love doing this for you Kolby. I love doing anything for you! I love you babe!!! You are beautiful!

  2. Sorry it was a tougher day for you Kolby. It's too bad you don't feel better so that you could enjoy being the boss :). Lots of love.

  3. I bet it is hard for her to think about what's going on, let alone talk about it. You're the best mom to just do what you need to do and let her take it as she needs to! It would probably be hard for me too, to have my kid not want to talk about it since I'm such a talker. haha :)

I'm sorry it wasn't as good as the last couple days. I was THRILLED to hear about those good days but sometimes it makes it harder to go back to the bad days. (I'm only speaking from my MEGA sick pregnancy MONTHS!) Love you guys!!!!!!!

Father's Day

Today was a great day for our family. Kolby went to church. It was a challenge , but it was really important for Kolby to go to church today with her dad. She got up, got ready and she looked beautiful. I really wish I would have taken pictures of the girls with their dad, but we were in such a hurry to get off to church that I forgot. Next time I will for sure. She was pretty emotional at church. It was a lot for her to get ready and go to church for the first time in a while. She wanted to arrive a few minutes late, and leave a few minutes early. It is really hard for Kolby to see people, only because of all the different emotions she is feeling right now. She gets very emotional when people hug her and express their love and support. She loves it, but right now, she cries every time she has a new visitor or sees people. So, please do not get offended if Kolby is quiet when you see her or visit with her. It's just how she is right now, and that's ok . Everyone deals wit...

A Very Generous Gift!

Brinley Truman, an eight year old girl in our ward and a dear friend of our family over heard her parents discussing Kolby and their desire to make a donation to "Keeping Kolby." Brinley asked her parents, Tom and Taralee, what they were talking about and Taralee explained to Brinley that they were going to donate money to the Cramptons because they wanted to show them that they love them and also because all the medicines and procedures that Kolby has to have cost a lot of money. Brinley told her parents that she wanted to give her money too. She went into their kitchen, climbed on the counter and got her money off the top of the fridge. When she got down she handed her mom 5 one dollar bills, 4 nickles, and 7 pennies. Her mom told her that she didn't have to give her money and that they would donate money as a family and Brinley said, "No, I want to use this!" Taralee told her that she should keep her money since she doesn't get money very often and they d...

Met A New Friend!

Kolby went to her weekly doctor's appointment today and as soon as we got there Dr. Kline came right out in the waiting room and told Kolby that there was a 15 year old girl who was just diagnosed with cancer and she was having a really really hard time. He asked Kolby if she would go back and talk to her. Kolby met McKenzie. She is such a darling girl. McKenzie was just diagnosed with brain cancer two weeks ago. She was very quiet and we could tell that she was scared and uncomfortable. She is just beginning to lose her hair and Kolby chatted with her about her experience. Kolby told her about the Wig Cottage and a few web sites with hat hair. McKenzie seemed a little uplifted. Kolby also told her all about her experiences the first few cycles and how much better it does get. Kolby also learned that McKenzie has to have chemo and radiation everyday for 30 days and it really made Kolby appreciate her 21 day cycle. The two were able to get strength from one another. I was really pro...
